Guide to the porcini map of France
ShroomRadar combines IGN forest boundaries and tree species with Open-Meteo weather. Daily publication currently covers penny buns in metropolitan France, including Corsica. The other four experimental profiles are paused. Sentinel-2 is reused only when a compatible measurement is already cached; new acquisitions are disabled by default. Coefficients remain uncalibrated assumptions.
Understanding IGN forest boundaries
Areas intersect BD Forêt stands, the forest mask and departmental boundaries. They preserve clearings and are not cadastral parcels. New woodland without historical tree-species records is not assessed. Overseas territories are not covered.
The department-wide overview is simplified; zoom in to load detail. Clicking shows the dominant tree species, IGN reference and weather conditions. Displayed layers are 60–79% in red, 40–59% in orange and 20–39% in yellow. Indices of 0–19% and 80–100% are hidden. Grey indicates unassessed habitats, hidden by default.
Weather and season: understanding species indices
Each profile combines recent rainfall, temperature, frost, heat, water balance and available soil variables. Habitat coefficients, weather windows and seasonal factors differ by species. They do not allow probabilities to be compared across species.
Forests in a 10 km grid cell share the same weather: detailed boundaries do not mean tree-level weather precision. Data comes from weather models, not sensors in each forest. A seven-day trend is shown in the details.
Harvest, habitats and satellite: map limitations
An index of 60% does not mean a 60% harvest probability. No species is calibrated against local observations. Soil type, pH, mycelium and management are not included. The morel profile covers only broadleaf woodland: open and alluvial habitats and conifer-associated morels remain uncharacterised.
BD Forêt V2 tree-species records are historical. Forest mask vintages vary by department; later fires and felling may be missing. Reused Sentinel-2 measurements can be old: their dates remain visible in details and reports.
Sentinel-2 refines forest boundaries when observations are clear enough. Green cover experimentally adjusts profiles except morels, for which this indicator would be unsuitable for open habitats. Measurements may be cached for seven days; weather and indices are recalculated daily. The Satellite view displays IGN aerial photography.

A map cannot identify a Shroom or confirm that it is edible. An index does not guarantee a harvest or permission to access land or collect Shrooms.
